SKILLED TRADES
Do you want to get a good paying job and not get into debt from years of university or college? Consider entering a skilled trade where you start earning a wage while you learn on the job. There is some college involved; however, your time spent in the classroom will only be a month or two out of your year.
Did you know that there are over 50 trades in Manitoba and over 200 skilled trades in all of
Canada. To learn more about apprenticeship opportunities in our province, check
out the Manitoba Trade Program site at:

SENIOR YEARS APPRENTICESHIP OPTION:
Students at Carberry Collegiate have the opportunity to participate in the Senior Years Apprenticeship Option. This option allows Grade 11 and 12 students to earn up to 8 academic credits (110 hours = 1 credit) while gaining work experience in a trade and earning a wage. Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed all compulsory Grade 9 and 10 subjects. It is the responsibility of the student to find a suitable employer who is willing to take on a student apprentice. Students must register for this program in advance and this must be done through the school Guidance Counsellor. It is important that students carefully plan their Grade 11 and 12 timetables to ensure they will have all the credits they need for graduation. Please see Mrs. McMillan if you are considering this option. For more information visit http://www.gov.mb.ca/tce/apprent/educator/apprenticeship_school.html.
