Guidance & Counselling: Mrs. Michelle McMillan is our school guidance counsellor. She may be contacted by email mmcmillan@bpsd.mb.ca, telephone 834-2172 Ext 2225, or stop by her office to make an appointment. She is available for a variety of different services to our students including:

• Academic, personal and social counselling services to all students on an individual, small group or classroom basis as required.
• Consultation and liaison with parents, teachers, administrators.
• Referrals to outside services and agencies.
• Career Guidance and Post-Secondary options - Parents and students are encouraged to visit the Career Information link.
• Information about credits, course selection, and graduation requirements.
• Distance Learning, online, and summer school courses.

Addictions Foundation of Manitoba:  Carberry Collegiate utilizes the services of an AFM worker who comes to our school every Thursday. Students or parents may contact Tessa Small at 834-2172 if they need more information about drug, alcohol or gambling issues.

Resource: Resource teachers may provide support to regular classroom programs in order to meet the needs of a student. Service may be direct (pull-out) or indirect (in the regular classroom) through a consultative and collaborative process with parents and staff. Student needs are identified and resource intervention is provided through a referral and formal assessment process.  Resource Teachers coordinate special services within the school.

As part of the Resource program we offer the following services on a referral basis only:
OT/PT (Occupational Therapy and Physiology)
Psychologist
Speech Language Pathology

Student Support: Provide special academic programming in an alternative setting for students with identified learning disabilities, lower ability and patterns of underachieving through program adaptation, modification and individualized planning. Programming may be extensive in scope and duration or in preparation for re-entry to a regular program. Behavioural, social and emotional skills are considered when planning for students’ personal growth.

Medical and Emergency Response Plans: BPSD and Assiniboine Regional Health Authority work together with the Unified Referral Intake System (U.R.I.S) to identify students with medical needs such as anaphylaxis, diabetes, asthma, etc.. A qualified nurse prepares and updates medical response plans each year for the schools and bus drivers.
